I thought all Vista bugs were done with now, is it really this awkward. I was going to use it to take advantage of the extra RAM, is any one else using Vista without all this hassle. Should I use it?

There is a new "game friendly" Microsoft operating system being launched soon that should be better than XP for us gamers, but Vista just sucks. The games forums I visit are packed with gamers reporting Vista related problems. Yes, XP users also report problems, but not in the huge numbers that Vista users report them. It could be that more people own Vista these days than XP, but Microsoft had to do a huge amount of PR damage control after Vista was launched, as public perception was very negative. The public liked the ideas inherent in Vista, but not the way it actually ran, (theory good, practical bad), and many gamers stayed with XP.

The new OS is called windows 7, and it will be launched later this year. The fact that Microsoft are launching another OS so soon after the launch of Vista, tells me all I need to know about Vista.

Friday and Lemon may use Vista, coz they are girls, so take their advice rather mine if they do, as their hands on experience is worth more than my prejudiced opinion, which is just based upon second hand anecdotal evidence.

Regards - Mr P

Yep, I run vista 95% of the time. I dual boot to XP for some of my older games which kick up a stink about vista, but I havent had a vista related problem with any of the newer games or apps Im running. In fact I cant remember the last time I used XP.

In my opinion Vista seems to be quite stable these days. It had big bad problems when it first came out, as Plum mentioned (hence my dual OS setup) but like I said, it seems to be fine these days for me.

We didnt play the match officially, but we had a 2 map 3v3 kick around, with an agreement to cancel the match and reshedual it to this sunday at 20:00 gmt.

I haven't used Vista all year, I've had issues with vista crashing from the start so quickly jumped on the Windows 7 beta and haven't had a Blue Screen yet.

Microsoft recently released the RC for Windows 7 which I would highly recommend over getting vista because 1 it's free and lasts for almost a year and 2 because Windows 7 is everything that Vista should have been

yeah, my company is member of MSDN, i get the rc's allways first but had not the time to test them yet... asap i get the final i will install it on my pc.

i had never big problems with vista in the past, my problems started after i installed Visual Studio 2008... this damn development environment installs so many small programms to your system, you can't overlook.

But i need it for my work, so i think i make it like friday with 2 or 3 partitions with different OS... (Did not because bought this pre-installed ASUS notebook last christmas and used it since for everything...)

Anyway, I still hope i can repair it till sunday, hope ugli and rest is around...

Btw. i bought a new house last week, have to potter round the house in june and july...
(It's the last house i bought, believe me... it has 154 square metres for living and around 235 square metres as garden... hope my wife can handle all the work :D)

Btw. where is Durian ? i tried to contact him through XFire but could not contact him...

Durian is scared of zombies. He is currently hiding in a hole until us brave few have cleared up the last remnents, and restore this green and pleasant land back to its former glory.

I got my rig back at last although it was fucked. They have fitted a P5 premium mobo and it has so much heat sink piping that the cooler they got me for the CPU, an OCZ monster wasnt fitted properly. It was flapping around in the case held onto the mobo by only 2 of the 4 legs, the other 2 wouldnt go in but hey did they try. The piping heatsinks are bent in one place slightly, obviously fould by the cooler. NOOOOOBS, I told them I wanted an Arctic 7 pro. Also they swapped my knurled case thumb screws for common screws, there was 2 pieces of plastic floating inside, dont know what they were from, probably my mobo somewhere and they hadnt locked down my 2 optical drives so they were floating in and out of the front of the case.
Any ways I fitted my quad 2.83 with standard cooler and my new 700 watt PSU and its fine. But I am raising mega stinks with both the AA and the underwriter SBS, maybe get my money back on the upgrade. But I am back onboard, just the wifes leg to deal with now.

Congrats on the new house.

Every time I had a big garden, I never had enough time to look after it, so I always had to pay external gardners to keep it maintained. That used to cost me a small fortune between spring - autumn, so I never did buy a sit on lawn mower, (with go faster stripes), but I always wanted to - LOL.

Is a 235 square metre garden big enough for a sit on lawn mower? Go on, you know you want one.

Always saw myself zooming around the garden with a glass of wine in one hand and a fag in the other, but never did. That's my idea of gardening.

Regards - Mr P 8)

Filling my time with FallOut 3 and COD4.
Yeah Yeah, before F starts flapping his lips...
FO3 has also all kind of creepies running around but is not solely focussed around them.

For MR P.... you do not buy a sit-on-lawmower for a little patch of 2500sqft.
You do that with a push around or with a nailclipper if you are a real man

O as a pc man might however buy one of those high tech ""leave me alone" robottic ones...
Very neat if you do not have a cat or rabbits in your family garden

Gave up trying to find / contact people on TS or Xf as I only would find Ugs around but lately he dissapeared from Xf as well.

So to stay in contact with yr bunch of hopelesly shooting zombie freaks I limit myself reading the forum.

O: congratulations with yr new house. A garden is great so enjoy.
Do yourselve a favor and limit the grass area by digging a pond and setup a trampoline for the kids.
U: good luck with yr rig.
F: .... boe
